A) Location

The quarry is located on the outskirts of the village Triefenstein. Furthermore the quarry is sited in the valley of the river “Main”, at the east border of the “Spessart” and 25 km western of Würzburg. The natural region of this area is the “Marktheidenfelder Platte” (southwest).

B) Overview - Mining and recultivation

The mining activity was from 1957 to 1994. Today, the mining activities are only at the quarry Homburger Höhe. Since 2006, the quarry Locksberg is near-complete renaturated.
